The Model KL100 Turbo-Toc® is a 100 GPM, Kidney Loop, Pressure Coalescence Turbine Oil Conditioner that continuously pumps oil from the main turbine reservoir, cleans and dries the turbine oil, and returns the turbine oil, under pressure, to the reservoir. It is designed for continuous, 24/7, operation and is engineered with continuous operation rated components. The KL100 is capable of maintaining "Reservoir Cleanliness" on a reservoir up to 12,000 gallons.

The Turbo-Toc® is a self-contained, skid mounted, micro-processor controlled, full status control panel, pressure coalescence system that features an automatic water drain and a totalizing water meter to help your power plant monitor water removal and/or predict critical maintenance.

PEFORMANCE

Solid Contamination Removal: The TURBO-TOC® removes particulate contamination in phases: PHASE I = 3" mesh cleanable strainer to protect pump; PHASE II = 6.0 micron absolute ( β6 = 75) particulate filter cartridges per ANSI/(NFPA) T3.10.8.8R1 Multipass test; PHASE 3 = 6.0 micron absolute ( β6 = 75) coalescer filter cartridges per ANSI/(NFPA) T3.10.8.8R1 Multi-pass test; and PHAE IV = 2.8 micron absolute ( β2.8 = 75) , ( β3 = 200) particulate filter cartridges per ANSI/(NFPA) T3.10.8.8T1 Multi-pass test.

For field test, case study results refer to the KL5 product page.

Water Removal: The TURBO-TOC® removes free, emulsified, and some dissolved water. Based on an influent of 5000 ppm (0.5%) concentration of water the TURBO-TOC® will reduce the free and emulsified water content to less than 25 PPM and a total water content less than 150 ppm with oil viscosity to 200 ssu.

Reservoir Cleanliness: For maximum total main turbine lube oil system level cleanliness, the entire contents of the reservoir should be processed at least once every two hours, 50% per hour, by a TURBO-TOC® on a continuous basis. Accordingly, the TURBO-TOC® is guaranteed to maintain a solid contaminant level of ISO 16/13 (SAE Class 4) per NFPA or better and maintain a water contaminant level of less than 150 ppm total water concentration (less than 25 ppm free and emulsified) provided the influent water level does not exceed 5000 ppm. Maintaining these levels of cleanliness in the entire reservoir will minimize the effects of contamination on lube oil contacted components within the turbine/generator system.

1 = Influent 5000 ppm water, 200 ssu maximum turbine oil.
2 = 2.8 micron absolute filters per ANSI/(NFPA)      T3.10.8.8T1.

DETAILED SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

#1: The KL100 is conveniently skid mounted for portability. The unit has provisions for lift truck forks. The drip pan is equipped with two 1/2" drain ports. In the event that it is necessary to disassemble the TURBO-TOC® in order to fit it in a tight space, it is easily disassembled. Most of the major components are bolted to the skid. The skid dimensions are height = 84", width = 91", depth = 80". Dry weight = 6,100 pounds.

#2: Inlet connection = 3" ANSI 150# R.F. flange with ball valve for isolation.

#3: Suction Strainer = 3" cleanable 30 mesh basket type strainer with vacuum switch and panel mounted "Dirty Strainer" light. When the strainer needs cleaning, the warning light illuminates and the system is automatically shut-down.

#4: Pump = 100 gpm gear pump with internal relief valve set at 90 psi. The rate of flow/speed of the pump is driven by a 10 hp 460 VAC TEFC electric motor (other voltages are available) that is regulated via an AC motor controller and an on-board microprocessor.

#5: Low Flow Monitor = In the event that the rate of flow to or from the TURBO-TOC® drops to less than 20 gpm, the unit will automatically shut-down to prevent damage to the pump and motor.

#6: Heater = The thermostatically regulated heater increases the temperature of the oil five degrees per pass with a watt density of 16. The heater is sized to raise the temperature in a 6000 gallon reservoir from 70°F to 100°F in 8 hours. The heater is needed if the turbine oil is ever below 70° for start-up. A heavy duty heater (13° rise per pass) is available.

#7: Sample Port #1 = The sample port is equipped with a ball valve and pig tail for ease in taking oil samples. Oil samples taken from this port indicate the oil cleanliness in the reservoir.

#8: Filter #1 = Pressure Particulate Filter, equipped wth 3 Kaydon Model K1000 particulate removal elements. These filter elementss are 6 micron absolute per ANSI/(NFPA) T3.10.8.8R1 (β6 = 75). The elements are protected by 3 internal by-pass valves set at 40 psid. ASME coded particulate filter vessel is standard. The filter is fitted with a davit lift for easy element removal, automatic air vent, and ball valve actuated drain lines to the 3/4" NPT oil drain port at the rear of the skid. Any water separated by the particulate filter is automatically drained to Filter #2.

#9: Filter #2 = Pressure/Coalescence Water Removal Filter, equipped with 10 Kaydon Model K2000 coalescer elements and 9 Kaydon Model K3000 separator elements. The water is coalesced and separated from the oil and settles to the bottom of the vessel. As the water level rises (the water level is visually monitored by the sight glass mounted on the side of the vessel), a military approved automatic water control valve is opened releasing the water under pressure through the flow sight and water meter (provides the total water discharged by Filter #2 in gallons) and flows out the 3/4" NPT water discharge port. If desired, the water may be drained manually. Filter #2 is also equipped with a ball valve actuated oil drain line connected to the 3/4" NPT oil drain port at the rear of the skid. ASME coded water removal filter is standard. Automatic air release external bypass valve set at 40 psid, and pressure relief valve set at 150 psi.

#10: Filter #3 = Pressure Particulate Polishing Filter, equipped with 3 Kaydon Model K4000 particulate removal elements. These filter elements are 2.8 micron absolute per ANSI/(NFPA) T3.10.8.8R1 ( β2.8 = 75), ( β3 = 200). The elements are protected by 3 internal bypass valves set at 40 psid. The filter is fitted with a davit lift for easy element removal, automatic air vent, and ball valve actuated drain lines to the 3/4" NPT oil drain port at the rear of the skid.

#11: Sample Port #2 = The sample port is equipped with a ball valve and pig tail for ease in taking oil samples. Oil samples taken from this port indicate the oil cleanliness after processing by the TURBO-TOC®.

#12: Outlet Connection = 2" ANSI 150# R.F. flange with ball valve for isolation.

#13: Full Status Control Panel = (Single Electrical Connection, Standard Unit Service Requirement = 400 volt AC, 3 phase, 50 amp. Other voltages are available). The status of the TURBO-TOC® can be easily monitored by observing the control panel gauges and indicator lights. All vital systems are monitored. The full system is protected by safety bypass valves.

#14: Differential pressure gauges monitor filters. Filters should be changed at differential pressure of 25 psid, and are connected to indicator lights on the panel. The gauge panel is mounted below the control panel.
